This is a great hands on activity that supports discussion about forces and also practical math application. Using everyday craft resources or recycled materials students can quickly prototype possible ideas and see what effect minor changes can have on the effectiveness of the catapult.

 

This project could be linked to a scientific hypothesis requiring students to run tests and then use the results to determine the effectiveness of the design.

 

 

 

Supplies needed:

  • Popsicle sticks/coffee stirrers

  • Large rubber bands

  • Spoons (or bottle tops)
